CVICT aims to create a warm and safe environment at the Centre. Display of medical devices is minimized in the doctor’s room to avoid possible reminders of torture. Also, there are no pictures or drawings of torture in the clinic.
The counseling rooms are comfortable. The rooms have many windows or glass so clients can see outside the room. To build a trusting relationship between employees at CVICT and the clients, to foster a comfortable environment, and to avoid unnecessarily reminders torture, no uniforms are allowed. None of the doctors wear white coats. Although torture by doctors is uncommon in Nepal, doctors have been accomplices in terms of manufacturing records.
Staffs are also trained to respect all clients. We stress the importance of respecting Nepal’s enormous class and caste distinctions. |
