The six-month psychosocial counseling training for members of women’s cooperatives and social mobilizers of the Women and Children’s office from 14 districts ended. The closing workshop was held at the Department of Women and children and chaired by the Director General, Mr. Naresh Kumar Chapagain in the presence of UNPFA program officer, officers of the DWC, CVICT staffs and trainers. The newly trained counselors shared stories of how they handled various cases with skills received during the training period. They talked about how this training brought about changes in their personal lives as well as how it cleared their previous mis-conceptions about mental/psychosocial illness and health.
The training that began on 16 November 2016 was organized in three phases — theoretical part, practical part and on-the job training. The training mainly focused on providing insight about identifying and assessing the cases and finally implementing the acquired techniques in improving the psychosocial health of service recipients. The training was provided by Centre for Victims of Torture Nepal with technical and financial support from the United Nations Population Fund and Department of Women and Children..
