Harvard University, University of Western Australia and CVICT start a new research

Harvard University, University of Western Australia and Centre for Victims of Torture (CVICT) Nepal start a new research study aiming to address the impacts of natural disasters on young people and what strategies can be used to help them in Nepal. Understanding the vulnerabilities and strengths of adolescents affected by disasters can help to inform resource allocation and program design that would both address young people’s needs after disasters and empower them to contribute to disaster preparedness and response. Importantly, the study will highlight the pathways to education and engagement in the workforce for adolescents affected by trauma. This research will take place throughout this year initially using qualitative methods to inform the development of measures and methods for a larger quantitative study of adolescent resilience, health and security in the same settings later this year. Findings will be shared in early 2017.
