Advocacy workshop on psycho social and mental health

The Community based psychosocial capacity building (CBPCB) Project “Man Ko Chautari” has been implementing by CVICT in Dhading, Gorkha and Kavre districts with the technical & financial support from IsraAid and AmeriCares. The objectives of the project are to build capacity of the FCHVs and Health Workers. Identifying cases those who are suffering by mental illness and psychosocial problems. Provide psychosocial and medical support those who are needed to be cure. Also initiate for building capacity of local bodies and stakeholders for the sustainability of Mental Health through-out evidence based advocacy.

 

CVICT Nepal conducted sharing meetings/workshop with the Karyapalika members of all different advocating municipalities and rural municipalities of respected all three districts. Panchkhal Municipality and MandanDeupur Municipality in Kavrepanchok district, Phoolkharka Rural Municipality in Dhading district and Palungtar Municipality in Gorkha district. The orientation programs are also conducting in ward level in all program implementing municipalities in respective districts, where as ward members as well as local leaders and local stakeholders will be registered as a participants.  

During the program; program activities were presented as well as orientation program was carried out on what could be done on future for the sustainability of the service on Mental Health Issues. Conducting awareness, giving appropriate information, building capacity and medication as per need are major activities. The interaction apprehended existing issues linking up identified cases and also discussed on role of local elected political bodies to shut out the problems at their own level. Most of the participants engaged as curiously and shared facing issues.

The main aim of the workshop was to orient on Mental Health scenario and discussion on conducted as well as upcoming activities for the sustainability of mental health. The participants shared that mental health is a big issue in community and it should be addressed in a systematic way. They made commitment to allocate some amount of budget to the government and also positive reaction to collaborate with the organization in the mental health issues by finding out the way as well as implementation of allocated fund to address the mental health issues.
